We Shouldn't Question

How hard it is sometimes to have a logical mind that likes to over think things. Someone posted on "My Story" and it got me thinking how hard it is to have faith, at times.

My brain wanders...it's all part of the whole Aspergers thing. How can ONE major religion be right and the rest of the religions be wrong? Isn't it possible God showed himself to people in different regions in different forms?

The Baha'i Faith might be onto something. (if I wasn't Catholic...this would be my next choice of religion)

They basically believe that:

"Throughout history, God has revealed Himself to humanity through a series of divine Messengers, whose teachings guide and educate us and provide the basis for the advancement of human society. These Messengers have included Abraham, Krishna, Zoroaster, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad. Their religions come from the same Source and are in essence successive chapters of one religion from God."

This just makes sense to me. I have always felt that there is ONE God, shown to many people in different ways and forms. It makes it hard for me to stay focused on MY Faith. But, that's where that FAITH word comes into play. Even if things don't make sense...we ALL must rely on our Faith.

Pray for me. I sometimes fall away, doubting all that I am doing. Am I right and everyone else wrong? Is my God different from YOUR God? Are ALL the other Religions going to fall away when MY God reveals Himself to everyone else?

UGH...my brain needs to settle down today! TOO MUCH THINKING!!!! :)

Off to do my reading and my prayers!

  1. The Baha'i philosophy doesn't make sense to me. So, God gave contradictory teachings to each prophet? Why??

I like the Catholic philosophy -- all religions have elements of the truth, but only Catholicism has the fullness of truth.

  4. Dean...I think that is what I meant by "how can one religion be right and all the others wrong". if you read the Quran, the Bible, etc...they don't necessarily contradict each other, but rather, reinforce each other. I am Catholic and I love my Faith. But, I LOVE reading about ALL religions and how they somehow connect, what separated them in the first place, where they originated, etc. But, you are right...God is THE Big Cheese and I think only HE can judge who is right and who is wrong...

  5. Hi Carmen. It is always a joy to find one seeking the religion of God! The rational mind can know of The Prophets, The dates, the teachings, but real joy comes from being called into service.

  6. Greetings! I am a fellow Catholic with Asperger's. One of my FAVORITE Church documents is called Dominus Iesus: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20000806_dominus-iesus_en.html

This was written by Cardinal Ratzinger before he became Pope Benedict XVI. It is the absolute best explanation of the relationship of why salvation is uniquely through Jesus and His Bride and Body the Catholic Church, even though there are some truths present in other religions, as people the world over have tried imperfectly to seek truth. The Catholic faith is the fullness of the truth because it is inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is so beautiful. Jesus is beautiful! As Fr Robert Barron quotes St Joan of Arc in his "Catholicism" tv series that was on PBS, "About Jesus Christ and the Church, I simply know they're just one thing, and we shouldn't complicate the matter."
